Steph Curry shares concerns over Warriors roster

The Golden State Warriors fell to their 18th defeat of the season on Thursday (Jan. 4) at the hands of the Denver Nuggets. The Warriors held a 16-point lead over Denver coming into the fourth quarter, yet their inability to maintain a lead once again became an issue as the Nuggets stormed back during the fourth.

Steph Curry‘s frustrations were clear when speaking to the media following the game. He noted that he has yet to see the signs of this year’s team having established an identity, which means he doesn’t view the Warriors as a ‘good team.’

“The closing lineup looks different for obvious reasons,” Curry said. “And we haven’t established an identity, and that’s on us to do that. Good teams know who they are, they find ways to win, and they do it consistently. And we haven’t checked any of those boxes, so you can’t call us a good team until we do. No matter how much experience we have, every year is unique and different because of the team that you have and the challenges that the team faces. Our strengths and weaknesses that we’ve identified, and that we have not figured out who we are and been able to prove it on nightly basis. But, there’s still a belief that we can.”

The Warriors will be straight back in action as they face the Detroit Pistons on Friday (Jan. 5) in what will be the second night of a back-to-back. The Warriors season is in danger of free-falling if they can’t begin to figure things out on the court.

As such, this is the worst possible time to be playing a trap game against a talented young team that has won three times all season. The Warriors have very little to gain and a lot to lose in that matchup. Warriors fans will be hoping the team can avoid a negative result and can show some fight to bounce back from a tough defeat.
