Steph Curry says he deserved 2015 Finals MVP over Andre Iguodala

The 2015 NBA Finals was an interesting series from multiple angles. The Golden State Warriors made it to the championship round with a 12-3 record while the Cleveland Cavaliers made it to the title round with a 12-2 record.

Steph Curry won his first regular-season MVP award as Cavaliers superstar LeBron James finished third in the MVP voting. Cleveland made it to the Finals despite losing Kevin Love in Game 4 of their first-round series against the Boston Celtics and managed to win two games against the Warriors despite losing Kyrie Irving in Game 1.

Despite how well Curry played during the Finals – even though it was below-average for him yet great for most players – he lost the Finals MVP to teammate Andre Iguodala. Here’s what Curry had to say about the 2015 Finals MVP award:

“The question, I feel like, did I deserve it (2015 Finals MVP)? For sure. I feel like comparison is a thief of joy. I feel like when you’re in, that was kind of what I was talking about earlier (regarding narratives), when you get into that Finals, you don’t understand the magnitude of the narrative, right? You don’t really and then, when it’s about you, there’s no better lesson than being in it. So, that two weeks felt like an eternity from Game 1 going to overtime and winning to Kyrie getting hurt to Game 2 with the whole (Matthew) Dellavedova experience. Andre and his defense and his presence and that adjustment we made in the middle of the series unlocking another level for us. So, I felt like we’re obviously not winning the Finals if I don’t play the way that I played. I felt like I played extremely well.”
