Steph Curry’s minutes could be elevated in Game 3 vs. Nuggets on Thursday

After missing 12 consecutive games due to a foot injury to end the regular season, Steph Curry made his highly-anticipated return to the floor during game one of the postseason against the Denver Nuggets.

However, upon his return, Curry came off the bench in a limited role. The two-time Most Valuable Player tallied 16 points in 22 minutes off the bench in game one as the Warriors cruised to a victory.

During game two on Monday, Curry still came off the bench, but the 34-year-old guard looked in mid-season form. Curry dropped a game-high 34 points on 12-of-17 from the field with five triples, four assists and three boards in only 23 minutes.

In-game three on Thursday, Curry could see an increase in playing time. During Thursday’s early practice before the game, Steve Kerr said the guard should be elevated for game three.

He should be elevated tonight. He came through the first few games well. We’ve had the last couple days off in terms of no game action. So he’s had a chance to assess where he is and he’s doing really well. We’ll increase his minutes tonight.

With Curry’s playing time set to get a bump, Kerr could get the opportunity to use his new-look lineup that features three guards with Curry, Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole. In-game two, the trio of guards combined for 84 points against the Nuggets.

Game three is set to tip off at 7 p.m. PT in Denver on Thursday night.
