Steph Curry ‘isn’t anywhere close’ to considering retirement

Steph Curry remains one of the best players in the world. The Golden State Warriors superstar is enjoying another stellar season and continues to remind everyone why he’s the unquestionably greatest shooter in the history of the league. However, at 35 years old, Curry is likely facing more and more questions surrounding the end of his career.

Curry faced one of those questions when addressing the media at the All-Star game on Feb. 18. He admitted that he does think about retirement. However, he also noted that he has no immediate plans to bow out of the league.

“I think about it all the time,” Curry said. “But the thoughts stop because you’ve gotta get ready for the next game. There’s a routine and a cycle that goes that you embrace the now. Eventually, you’ll get to the point where you will wake up, and whatever your body is telling you, whatever your mind is telling you it’s time. But, I don’t think I’m anywhere close to that.”

Curry has remained their clear-cut best player despite the Warriors’ struggles this season. Undoubtedly, he’s still capable of leading his team toward a championship. His game isn’t predicated on athleticism, which should allow him some additional longevity within the NBA.

Golden State is fortunate to have a new wave of young talent developing and breaking into the rotation. Having a leader like Curry, who is among the all-time greats, who can help educate and nurture his younger teammates is an incredible luxury. Warriors fans will be hoping Curry can continue wowing and helping develop talent for years to come.
