Steph Curry gives thoughts on NBA’s in-season tournament

The Golden State Warriors will play their second in-season tournament game on Tuesday. They will face the Minnesota Timberwolves. The game gives the Warriors a chance at immediate redemption following their loss to Minnesota on Sunday. Golden State won its first in-season tournament contest and will be hoping to add a second straight win to their tally.

During a recent media availability, Steph Curry was asked to provide his opinion on the new in-season tournament. The veteran star noted how he “loves” the additional competition the tournament provides and the sense of urgency that group play can foster.

“It felt like that (a playoff atmosphere) in OKC,” Curry said. “It’s gonna feel like that on Tuesday, and there’s even bigger stakes for us to respond, getting beat by the same team we’re playing Tuesday. So, gotta come with it and understand that there are consequences associated with those four games that you play in your pool and try to get to Vegas. I love it because it gives you that extra sense of urgency early in the year.”

The Warriors are on a three-game losing streak and have lost four of their last six. Steve Kerr‘s team wants to halt that slide when they face the Timberwolves on Tuesday. However, Minnesota boasts the best defense in the NBA. Finding ways to generate consistent offense will be the primary challenge the Warriors will have to overcome.

Curry has been ruled out of the Warriors’ second in-season tournament game due to knee soreness. However, there are still two more in-season tournament games left of the group stage, and Golden State fans will be hoping their star player is involved in both of them.
