Stefon Diggs didn’t mince his words, thinks Josh Allen is the quarterback of his destiny

Stefon Diggs was a good receiver during his first several seasons with the Vikings, but he wasn’t great. When the Bills made an aggressive move to trade for the wideout during the 2020 offseason, that was when he really blossomed. Why? Well, a great quarterback — Josh Allen — can also help a great receiver in Diggs.

In a recent episode of Bleacher Report’s “The Voncast,” Diggs told his all-world Bills teammate Von Miller about what it was like to finally connect with Allen roughly two years ago. When Miller asked Diggs about what Allen was able to do for his career, the star receiver was quite passionate and didn’t hold back the praise for his star quarterback.

If anything, it seems Diggs credits Allen for helping him become a household name (and vice versa).

Oh wow. It’s one thing to say Allen is a good quarterback; it’s another to take the route of crediting a religious deity for bringing Allen into his life and football-playing career.

To praise Diggs — which he does a great job of alluding to — it’s not as if Allen was a respected quarterback before his WR1 got to Buffalo. In fact, Allen was one of the most-mocked players in the NFL pre-2020. But that’s the magic of getting a quarterback a legitimate top receiver and getting a receiver someone who can actually get him the ball downfield for big plays. Both benefit from their mutually dynamic abilities, and the results are almost always evident.

For reference, Diggs had one 100-catch season in five years with the Vikings from 2015-2019. He already has two 100-catch campaigns under his belt with the Bills and is on a similar pace this season.

Diggs and Allen are one of the NFL’s premier quarterback-receiver combos, and, not by coincidence — the Bills are a legitimate Super Bowl contender. From that respect, maybe Diggs has a point. Perhaps he and Allen were really destined to play with each other.
