Steely Amazon delivery man filmed 'skiing' down icy road to get package to customer

A dedicated Amazon worker went well beyond the call of duty by sliding down a steep icy hill to deliver a package.

In a video, captured by residents, the courier is seen carefully gliding down the street on his feet, while holding the parcel.

Onlookers cheered him on as he made the nerve-wracking journey in Newton Abbey, Devon this morning (December 17), reports Devon Live.

Thankfully the driver - who seemed to be enjoying the ride - managed to arrive safely at the bottom and the package reached its destination.

Scott Christie and his partner were behind the camera and said "it made everyone's morning".

Scott said: "The children loved watching him "'skiing' down the hill. Just to see how dedicated he was in making sure all his parcels were delivered is incredible and we believe he needs some definite recognition from Amazon for his hard work he's put in."

He added: " He had nothing but a smile on his face and shared a laugh or two with us all when he got to the bottom."

A video, posted to the Spotted Newton Abbot Facebook page, has now gathered more than 20,000 views. The caption reads: 'Black ice won't stop this delivery driver. You will have your parcel sir."

One person wrote underneath: "Maybe skating should be in the job description! Fair play to him."

While another said: "All very well I couldn't even get out of my driveway! How the heck will he get back up the hill?

A third wrote: "Loving the casual lil strut at the end!!! What a legend."

Another added: "So funny at the end! The look he gave as he strutted off."

While one person said: "Good on him. Above and beyond job description.

It's believed he did indeed get back up the hill.

The impressive delivery happened as black ice continued to cause treacherous conditions across the country today.

The Met Office, meanwhile, issued a yellow weather warning for ice for much of the country that will start at 3am tomorrow and last till around 11am.

Disruption to travel is expected throughout the day. People are being warned to take care as there are likely to be icy patches on roads, pavements and cycle paths which could lead to injuries.

Milder temperatures are forecast from Monday.
