When the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Atlanta Falcons Thursday night in the team’s final preseason game, it will once again be all hands on deck. Head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media on Tuesday ahead of this week’s game and offered something of an injury update.
Tomlin noted that all healthy players will have an opportunity to play. As we have seen in the first two preseason games, there are always a handful of healthy players, mainly on special teams who don’t get any reps but for the most part, Tomlin and the Steelers coaches do a great job getting a look at every player.
As far as this week’s injury situation, Tomlin said that defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi, defensive back Tre Norwood and guard Nate Herbig are all trying to work their way into availability.
Tomlin also said decisions about those three players actually playing on Thursday night would be made in the 11th hour. Ogunjobi is safe to make the final 53-man roster regardless, and the same can be said for Herbig. But for Norwood, he is part of a very crowded group of defensive backs vying for a spot on the roster and every rep Norwood misses is an opportunity for another player.
