Time is running out for the Pittsburgh Steelers to get this season on track. Injuries and inconsistent play have the Steelers backing into the playoffs with no guarantees that this team will even make it. But if the Steelers are going to salvage the season it starts on Saturday against the Indianapolis Colts with a banged-up roster. Here are our five guys who must step up this week.
QB Mitch Trubisky
Too obvious? Maybe but this game is going to come down to which backup-turned-starter plays better and Trubisky stunk last week. He’s been critical of his teammate’s effort this season and he went out and laid an egg against the Patriots. He’s too experienced for that to happen.
C Mason Cole
Another guy who has been pretty outspoken this season about the team’s struggles is Cole and he was horrible last week. It’s time for him to make amends for his poor snaps last week.
EDGE Nick Herbig
With T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith in the concussion protocol, look for Herbig to play a huge part in the gameplan and we will see just how far along he is in a hurry.
LB Blake Martinez
Martinez split time last week with Mykal Walker but we think he is the guy this week next to Elandon Roberts and hope he can step up.
DL Larry Ogunjobi
The defensive line must step up with the injuries at linebacker and the guy we hope to see a big performance from is Ogunjobi.
