After taking their lumps in Week One, the Pittsburgh Steelers have pulled themselves together and have turned their attention to a Monday Night Football showdown with the 1-0 Cleveland Browns. While the Steelers were busy getting blown out by the San Francisco 49ers, the Browns upset the Cincinnati Bengals. Here’s what everyone should be concerned about this week.
What an 0-2 start would mean
A loss this week would be catastrophic from a historical standpoint. The Steelers have never made the playoffs under head coach Mike Tomlin after starting the season 0-2.
Growing discontent
It isn’t going to take long for all the young egos on the offense to sour on how the offense played. Unfortunately, the only way guys like Pat Freiermuth, Najee Harris and George Pickens can be successful is if Kenny Pickett is successful.
The Browns do what the Niners do
There are two ways to look at the Steelers situation this week. Because the Browns do so many things like what the Niners do, Pittsburgh could be well prepared for the challenge. Or it could just be more of the same from last week.
It might just be Kenny Pickett
I realize this is very gloom and doom and obviously a worst-case scenario but what if whatever happened last week isn’t the exception? Maybe Pickett isn’t the guy we saw in the preseason and he’s more like the guy we saw last week and at the start of the 2022 season when he first took over.
