According to ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler, the Pittsburgh Steelers are signing former Jacksonville Jaguars and San Antonio Brahmas cornerback Luq Barcoo.
Barcoo was one of the best cornerbacks in the XFL last season with 31 tackles and an interception in 10 games. The Steelers did not invite Barcoo to their rookie minicamp last weekend but still showed interest. Barcoo has been on the roster of the Jaguars, Cardinals, 49ers, Chiefs and Jets.
The Jaguars signed Barcoo as an undrafted free agent out of San Diego State in 2020. In 2019, Barcoo tied for the lead in all of college football with nine interceptions, along with 16 passes defended. The 6-foot-1 cornerback should be in the mix to make the final 53-man roster if he can continue to show the kind of growth he did in his one season with the Brahmas.
San Antonio Brahmas cornerback Luq Barcoo of the XFL is signing with the #Steelers, per source. Barcoo, who was with the Jaguars in 2020, did not attend a rookie minicamp but still received offers from Pittsburgh, Browns and Cowboys.
