Steelers tender none of their restricted free agents

The NFL released its league report on Wednesday listing all the players who were tendered an offer as a restricted free agents. The Pittsburgh Steelers listed no players on the list.

The top restricted Steelers free agents are center J.C. Hassenauer, cornerback James Pierre and wide receiver Steven Sims. Just because the Steelers didn’t tender these players doesn’t mean they won’t end up on the team. The front office could have already made contact with these players’ representatives and the two sides are working on new contracts as opposed to just having them play under the tender.

Hassenauer is the Steelers primary backup interior offensive line and has always played well when called upon. Pierre was Pittsburgh’s main fourth cornerback in 2022 and is experienced in the system.

Sims is the guy the Steelers need to get signed above the other two. When Pittsburgh traded Chase Claypool and Calvin Austin III was lost for the year, Sims eased into that third receiver role quite well. Plus he is also the team’s primary kickoff and punt returner.

Let us know in the comments which of these guys you think will be back with the Steelers next season.
