Steelers sign DT Montravius Adams to 2-year contract

It isn’t often a team adds a player late in the season and they have a significant impact. But this is exactly what happened when the Pittsburgh Steelers signed defensive tackle Montravius Adams off of the New Orleans Saints practice squad.

The success Adams has is being rewarded as the Steelers are now signing him to a two-year contract worth $5 million.

Adams brought a nice level of physicality to the interior defensive line. The Steelers had to endure multiple losses along the line including Tyson Alualu and Stephon Tuitt and it would have been nice if Pittsburgh could have gotten Adams on board even earlier in the season.

Next season, depending on what happens in the draft, I could certainly see Adams competing for the starting nose tackle job, even if Alualu comes back.
