The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to shuffle cornerbacks on its practice squad on Friday. On Thursday the team released cornerback Anthony Brown and placed Josiah Scott on the practice squad injured list. Just one day later, the Steelers announced they had signed speedy cornerback Kalon Barnes to the practice squad.
Barnes was a seventh-round pick in 2022 of the Carolina Panthers. His game is centered all around his ridiculous speed. Barnes ran a 4.23-second 40-yard dash at the scouting combine.
Buy Steelers TicketsSteelers starting cornerbacks Patrick Peterson and Levi Wallace struggled last weekend against the San Francisco 49ers. Barnes isn’t likely to be activated to the 53-man roster anytime soon but you love to see a guy with this type of speed getting an opportunity as a position in flux.
Pittsburgh also re-signed cornerback Luq Barcoo to the practice squad giving them a player who saw action for the Steelers during training camp and the preseason as well.
