When you draft a new quarterback, why not then draft him a reliable option in the passing game? This is exactly what the Pittsburgh Steelers did on Friday night when they followed up the choice of quarterback Kenny Pickett in the first round with Georgia wide receiver George Pickens in the second round.
Pickens is a legitimate vertical threat. Pickens ran a 4.47 40-yard dash at the scouting combine but he plays much faster than the stopwatch tells you. Pickens runs great routes and works well in space. He needs to get stronger to work against press coverage but with Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool on the roster, Pickens should get some matchups he can exploit.
