If you have been a Pittsburgh Steelers fan for any amount of time, you gotta cheer for what Mason Rudolph did against the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday night. Rudolph returned to the Steelers in the offseason after failing to sign with another team but just as he’s always done he handled it with humility and professionalism.
All that patience and professionalism was rewarded on Saturday as he helped the team snap a three-game losing streak and cling to the slightest of playoff hopes.
After Ruolph’s two-touchdown, 290-yard passing performance, Rudolph spoke to the media about if he felt like this game helped secure a future in the NFL or if he was worried this was his last season.
You got confidence in yourself as a player, but you’re kind thinking, ‘Am I going to jump into the commercial real estate realm next year or am I going to be playing quarterback?
The question now becomes if head coach Mike Tomlin will play the hot hand and leave Rudolph in the starting lineup this week against the Seattle Seahawks or will Kenny Pickett get his job back if he is 100 percent recovered from the high ankle sprain that has kept him out a month.
