Saturday night’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders was an excellent test for a young and talented Pittsburgh Steelers roster. The game was filled with emotion and once you figured in the pageantry of the night, the weather and the fact it was Christmas Eve, it would be easy to see why a young team might feel overwhelmed.
For a pretty good chunk of Saturday’s 13-10 win over the Raiders, Pittsburgh rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett looked a little lost. It definitely felt like the moment was too big for him and this was going to be one of those games he would learn from.
But when his team needed it most, Pickett stepped up. Pickett led a masterful game-winning touchdown drive in the closing moments of the game and gave everyone who braved the elements feelings of a classic Ben Roethlisberger comeback all over again.
Pickett went 7-for-9 on the final drive, throwing for 73 yards, rushing for a first down on a fourth down and capping it with an absolute dime to wide receiver George Pickens for the score. This was easily the best drive of Pickett’s season and definitely a drive he will grow from.
