Pittsburgh Steelers owner and President Art Rooney II sat down with WTAE sports reporter Ashley Liotus and she put it right out there about the team’s lack of fight and discipline on this team in recent seasons. A point Rooney pushed back on in the worst way possible.
“I’m very comfortable with the culture of this team,” Rooney said. “I think it is a winning culture. I think people need to keep it in perspective here even though we haven’t reached our goal of winning a Super Bowl, we’ve had winning teams. We’ve been making the playoffs.”

That kind of rhetoric, especially noting the Steelers have had “winning teams” is the last thing fans want to hear. Staying above .500 and getting blown out in the first round of the playoffs year after year wasn’t the standard in Pittsburgh but it really feels like Rooney has moved the goalposts on what constitutes Steeler Football and no one can be happy with that.
