Steelers must make a change at running back

Through eight games, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris has 363 rushing yards. This ranks him 28th in the NFL. Do you know who ranks 27th? New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

Worse than that, Harris has soundly been outplayed this season by fellow Steelers running back Jaylen Warren. Warren, an undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma State has been the best back on the team in the first half of the season.

Yet for whatever reason, head coach Mike Tomlin feels compelled to give Harris nearly four times as many carries. Warren is averaging 5.3 yards per carry compared to Harris’ 3.3 yards per carry. Tomlin has no one to blame but himself for this but it is time for the switch to be made and let the Steelers see what they have in Warren with a full workload.

Tomlin has given everyone just enough of Warren to recognize he’s a better fit for this offense as it stands right now. Warren is a north-south runner who has excellent quickness and no wasted steps.

Let us know in the comments below if you think it is time for a change at running back.
