The offseason awards continue to pile up for Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt. Watt has already been named Defensive Player of the year by the Pro Football Writers of America and the NFL 101 awards and now you can add The Sporting News to the list.
And while all of these are great, none of them are the big one. To put a proper end to Watt’s remarkable season, he needs to win the AP Defensive Player of the Year. This will be announced on February 10 at the NFL Honors ceremony just ahead of the Super Bowl.
Watt led the league with 22.5 sacks, which ties the NFL record. No player in the league pressured the quarterback and disrupted offenses the way Watt did in 2021. Watt also led the league in tackles for loss with 21.
Congratulations to @_TJWatt for being selected as @sportingnews Defensive Player of the Year!https://t.co/BfHdb47AXh
