Steelers interview Panthers OC Thomas Brown on Wednesday

Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Thomas Brown may have another opportunity in front of him.

As announced on Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers have completed an interview with Brown for their offensive coordinator opening. The Steelers are now the third team to express interest in the 37-year-old, joining the Chicago Bears and the Tennessee Titans.

Brown was hired as the offensive coordinator for the Panthers last offseason, but did not begin the campaign as the play-caller. That duty initially belonged to former head coach Frank Reich, who handed the reponsibility over to Brown after six weeks and then reclaimed them just three games later.

Following Reich’s firing to begin Week 13, Brown was given control of the offense for the remaining six games of the season. The Panthers finished with an average of 265.3 yards per game, the fewest in the NFL.

Brown, at least as far as official announcements go, is the first offensive coordinator candidate to complete an interview with the Steelers thus far.
