The Pittsburgh Steelers seem poised to keep Justin Fields around for at least the 2025 season, according to Steelers insider Gerry Dulac from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Dulac believes the team will re-sign the quarterback, though he doesn’t anticipate it being a blockbuster deal. “At this point, I believe Justin Fields will be re-signed. But I don’t think it’ll be anything crazy,” Dulac opined in his Jan. 15 chat with fans.
Fields’ market value currently stands at $8.853 million—a reasonable figure that could fit comfortably within the Steelers’ salary cap.
While Fields has shown flashes since entering the NFL as the 11th overall pick in 2021, he’s yet to consistently deliver elite numbers. This could position the Steelers to lock him in at a team-friendly price while still building a competitive roster around him. It would be good to see some continuity at the quarterback spot, which can be crucial for long-term success.
Fields still requires a good deal of development, especially after the Chicago Bears ruined him by grooming him to be a pocket passer. Should Fields be re-signed as expected, Pittsburgh will need a quarterbacks coach who sees his dual-threat value and knows how to refine it.
