If you were hoping to see the Pittsburgh Steelers draft Maryland cornerback Deonte Banks in the first round, you are probably going to be disappointed. The Steelers top brass chose to pass on the Maryland pro day on Wednesday.
Banks is an excellent cornerback prospect with great size and impressive man coverage skills. He certainly wouldn’t seem out of place if he was drafted in the middle of the first round in the 2023 NFL draft.
Banks is just one of several interesting Maryland prospects who could help Pittsburgh. Head coach Mike Tomlin has never been shy about favoring former Terrapins so he might not even need to be at the pro day to know if there’s a guy the wants. Beyond Banks, offensive tackle Jaelyn Duncan and wide receiver Deontay Demus are interesting prospects for the Steelers as well.
But I want to pass the question off to all of you. Will the Steelers draft a player from Maryland despite Tomlin’s absence at their pro day?
