The Pittsburgh Steelers could be without a key player versus the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Inside linebacker Cole Holcomb suffered an ankle injury in the Los Angeles Rams game but was able to return. He finished the day with eight tackles.
In his Tuesday press conference, Mike Tomlin said the ankle “requires some attention.” As usual, Holcomb’s practice quality this week will dictate his availability.

The quality of their work in practice week — say it with me! — will be their guide

Pittsburgh signed Holcomb as one of its first free-agency moves in March. He’s been a solid defender, but his coverage game has been a weakness. According to PFF advanced stats, he’s allowed 14 receptions on 19 targets, seven for first downs for a 73.7 percent completion rate. He’s stepped up his tackle game — since missing 29 percent in Week 1, he’s logged 46 total tackles.
