Last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, quarterback Mason Rudolph gave the Pittsburgh Steelers something they hadn’t seen much of all season. Touchdowns. Rudolph led the Steelers on four touchdown drives and this was enough to earn a second start this week Seattle Seahawks.
This came as something of a surprise with Kenny Pickett on the mend but it was great to hear head coach Mike Tomlin talk about the decision and be transparent about his decision to stick with the hot hand over returning to the starter.
Mason played a really good game, and we want to give him an opportunity to maybe build upon that and us to build upon that. That was the reason why we inserted him into the lineup. You know, we weren’t going to continue to do similar things and hope for a different result. We needed to produce more points, score more touchdowns. We were able to do that, and so I’m excited about the prospects of seeing what we can do in his second outing.
Tomlin wasn’t entirely clear about the health status of Pickett for this week, only adding he’s in a significantly better place this week over last week.
