A huge reason the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to get past the Cincinnati Bengals in such impressive fashion in Week 16 was the play of quarterback Mason Rudolph. But his big game did not secure him a starting spot this week against the Seattle Seahawks.
After the game, head coach Mike Tomlin was asked if he felt like Ruolph did enough to start again next week but Tomlin smartly replied that it is far too early to make those kinds of decisions.
Starting quarterback Kenny Pickett has missed the last three starts recovering from surgery to correct his high ankle sprain. Pickett did some work with the team last week but Tomlin opted for Rudolph instead.
The move paid off when Rudolph had the best game of the season by any Steelers quarterback. Now we will watch and see how practice plays out this week to see what Tomlin decides to do if Pickett is 100 percent. The Steelers only have two games left and must win both (along with getting lots of help) to try and sneak into the playoffs.
