The highlight of Mike Tomlin‘s weekly press conference was a statement on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ preparation for Davante Adams: “I was getting ready for Davante Adams last week. I’m now getting ready for Davante Adams this week.”
That preparation will be vastly different, given Tomlin isn’t stupid. He knew Adams would not be taking the field in Week 6. The hamstring injury will have miraculously healed, and Adams will be playing for the first time this season with fresh legs and a capable quarterback.
When asked whether the Pittsburgh Steelers were in the running for the services for now-Jets wide receiver Adams, Mike Tomlin offered no insight: “Doesn’t matter. Experience has taught me to talk about my people and not talk about hypotheticals and potentials because it is a fruitless endeavor.”
On Tuesday morning, Adams was traded from the Las Vegas Raiders to the New York Jets for a conditional third-round pick.
