Steelers G Isaac Seumalo talks past winning culture of his new team

The biggest free-agent addition the Pittsburgh Steelers made this offseason was guard Isaac Seumalo. Seumalo is a huge upgrade over Kevin Dotson at left guard and will be a perfect mentor on the left side for rookie offensive tackle Broderick Jones.

Seumalo spoke to the media after OTA practice last week and talked about what brought him to Pittsburgh and at the same time made a comment that stung a little.

“I know it hasn’t been recently, but there is a big winning culture here,” Seumalo said. “The fan base is similar to where I was the last couple years. Coach Tomlin is everything that his reputation from the outside suggests; being close to him, he’s been like that. And obviously the offense, the o-line room and the opportunity there has been really good.”

While we love to hear how happy Seumalo is to be on the team and how the influence of head coach Mike Tomlin has been such a part of it. But when he throws in there about how the winning culture of the Steelers isn’t recent, that hurts a little.

Seumalo is coming from the best team in the NFC and landed on a team that hasn’t won a playoff game since 2016. Hopefully Seumalo can bring some of that winning culture from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Steelers offensive line.
