T.J. Watt knew it was coming. NFL fans knew it was coming. Watt was a bridesmaid, but not the bride. Defensive Player of the Year, the most coveted award in the league, was presented to Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.
Despite leading in many statistical categories, including the most sacks with 19, Garrett was named DPOY.
Steelers fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their displeasure.
Nothing I’m not used to.

Myles Garrett is AP defensive player of the year. T.J. Watt was robbed, in my opinion.

T.J. Watt has led the NFL in sacks in three of the last four years.
Yet he has only 1 DPOY award to show for it & he literally had to tie the NFL sack record to get that one.

To paraphrase Chris Rock: Every day I go to the mailbox looking for my T.J. Watt DPOY prize, nothing!

I wonder how T.J. Watt got word that he wasn't winning. I don't blame Watt for not going. That should be his DPOY Award. #Steelers #NFL

T.J. Watt was absolutely robbed of the #DPOY honor. Every one of his stats were better than Myles Garrett. #ShameOnYou
