The editors at the Wire Network put together their list of the 50 most dominant players in the NFL. We already talked about Nos. 50-26 and where safety Minkah Fitzpatrick ranked but now Nos. 25-1 is out and we need to talk about edge rusher T.J. Watt.
Watt checks in as the No. 13 most dominant player in the league. Not an ideal number for sure given he’s only one season removed from being the Defensive Player of the Year. But I suppose one quiet season with Watt on IR for part of the season to put him out of people’s minds.
Here is what TD Wire’s Doug Farrar said about Watt:
Since Trent Jordan Watt, younger brother of Justin James Watt, came into the NFL as the Steelers’ first-round pick in 2017, no edge defender has amassed more total pressures than the younger Watt’s 241 – and that’s with him missing seven games due to injury in the 2022 season.
Maybe bigger than where Watt was ranked was the players ranked ahead of him. The list had three, yep three edge rushers ahead of Watt including Cleveland Browns Myles Garrett. Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers and Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys also ranked higher than Watt. Watt has already talked about how hard he is working to put last season behind him and you can bet he takes everything personal when it comes to preparing for his comeback.
