According to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cam Heyward had surgery on his torn groin on Thursday. According to Rapoport, Heyward is expected to miss about eight weeks but plans to return.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said that the injury happened in-game during last week’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He could not however specify which play was the one where Heyward suffered the groin tear.

If Heyward misses eight weeks we could see him back for the Steelers November 12 home matchup with the Green Bay Packers. This week the Steelers have to take on the 1-0 Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football and will be minus Heyward and could be missing other starters including wide receiver Diontae Johnson.
