If you are looking for a sleeper NFL team to make a playoff run in 2023, you could do worse than the Pittsburgh Steelers. This team nearly made the playoffs last season despite an injury to its best player and a rookie quarterback.
The Steelers front offense hasn’t sat around and let the offeason come to them. Instead, they’ve been aggressive and brought in multiple players to help out the top veterans on the team. Whether it is a handful of new starters on defense or the continued rebuild of the offensive line, this is a much-improved team.
Our friends over at Touchdown Wire have their preseason rankings out for the NFL and they are on the Steelers bandwagon. They have Pittsburgh at No. 7 in their rankings. Here’s what they had to say about Pittsburgh:
Mike Tomlin should get a Nobel Prize for somehow scraping together nine wins after a slow start and quarterback change mid-season. With a young cast of stars who now have a full season and another offseason together, combined with the new talent that was added to the roster, I really like the Steelers in 2023. Kenny Pickett has looked fantastic in camp. His confidence, poise, and rapport are all night-and-day different for the better. The weapons he has at his disposal, along with an improved offensive line and a defense that features three All-Pros, Pittsburgh is going to win a lot of games.
Even at seven, the Steelers are the sixth-best team in the AFC in the TD Wire rankings. The only NFC team ranked higher are the Philadelphia Eagles and this really illustrates just how talented the AFC is this year.
