The Pittsburgh Steelers chose not to tender center J.C. Hassenauer, leaving him to sign with any team he chooses. According to ESPN reporter Jordan Raanan, Hassenauer visited the New York Giants on Wednesday.
The Giants currently don’t have a viable starting center on the roster and Hassenauer is a legitimate starter in this league. During his time with Pittsburgh, he has had seven opportunities to start and played well. Hasssenauer was an RFA last offseason as well but was tendered and he signed it to play in the 2022 season.
Pittsburgh has dedicated a great deal of resources to rebuilding the interior offensive line this offseason. The Steelers signed Nate Herbig and Isaac Seumalo as free agents and Herbig’s experience at center gave Pittsburgh the opportunity to move on from Hassenauer.
The Giants have center J.C. Hassenauer in for a visit on Wednesday, per source. Spent the past four years with the Steelers. Appeared in 45 games with seven starts.
