The Pittsburgh Steelers finally got some good news when they announced they had activated defensive tackle Cam Heyward from IR. Heyward has been out since suffering a groin tear in Week One of the season.
It’s not clear just how much Heyward will play but he fully practiced this week and sounds like he’s ready to roll. Even if Heyward can’t play his usual heavy workload, just having him on the field part-time will be a huge boost for an up-and-down defense.

Heyward’s return is even more timely when you consider Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick is out with a hamstring injury. Losing Fitzpatrick hurts the Steelers base 4-2-5 set but after seeing the Steelers relegated to using just two true defensive linemen, knowing Heyward will be back on the field against a team that loves to run the football is a huge boost.
