The Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up for free agency by getting their internal house in order, and the process continued today with the release of cornerback Patrick Peterson.
Peterson, who played 97 percent of defensive snaps in 2023, logged two interceptions, 11 defended passes and 42 tackles in his only season with the Steelers.
According to Over the Cap, the move saves Pittsburgh $6.85 million with $2.925M in dead money.
The move certainly puts the Steelers in the market for a cornerback via the NFL draft, free agency or both, especially with Levi Wallace also expected to test the free agent market.
