Stay in a 'beautiful glass house' with 'unbelievable views' an hour from Liverpool

A staycation removes all the hassle of busy airports and can be a short drive away. With the recent travel chaos, many of us are choosing to go on a trip away closer to home.

Luckily for us, there are plenty of beautiful places in and around Liverpool that doesn't require loads of travelling. The Glass House is a 'beautifully presented' house in the village of Mellor, Lancashire.

The semi-detached home has an open-plan living and a picturesque garden for alfresco dining. The garden also offers a swing, perfect for a good book or a cuppa.

Upstairs, there are two bedrooms with a double and king-sized bed, both with en-suites. The 'Glass House' sleeps four, and is ideal for families or couples.

The rural village of Mellor has three pubs for when you fancy a drink or a proper pub meal, as well as a butchers, deli, village store and post office. For deep valleys and sweeping countryside, the Forest of Bowland is close by with a great selection of walking trials and wildlife.

The views are described as 'unbelievable' (Sykes Cottages)

Visitors can also take a trip to the historical town of Blackburn with attractions such as Witton Country Park, Blackburn Cathedral, Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery. Just 6 miles away is the historic town of Clitheroe which offers a range of shops, restaurants and a cinema and theatre.

One visitor review read: "We particularly enjoyed watching the sunset from the swing chair it was breath taking. The beds were very comfortable and the house has everything that you need and more.

We have two children aged 4 and 9 and there are lots of places to visit in the surrounding area such as, Brockholes, Samelsbury hall and Mrs Dowsons farm to name a few. There are also a few pubs in walking distance, we tried Millstone which was 2 minutes walk, the food here was delicious.

Clitheroe, is a short drive away and has a pub called Holmes Mill and that is definitely worth a visit. Nicky the owner is lovely and very attentive. All in all we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely visit again."

Prices start from £558 for seven nights. Find out more here.
