Statistical breakdown: How the Commanders and Bears stack up ahead of Week 5 game

The Washington Commanders are 4-4 on the young season through four games. When many predicted the Commanders’ schedule ahead of the season, they were often picked to start 1-3. Washington began the season 2-0 before losing back-to-back games against the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles.

The Commanders were humbled by the Bills but bounced back with a strong performance against the Eagles, almost pulling off the upset in Philly. An ugly theme has developed for Washington over the last three weeks. The defense has allowed 33 or more points in the previous three games.

The defense was supposed to be a strength, but outside of one game against Buffalo, the offense has arguably been the more productive unit.

This week, the Commanders return home to host the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football. The Bears are 0-4.

Here’s how these two old NFC rivals stack up statistically ahead of Week 5.
