Police have launched an investigation after a flask with hydrochloric acid was dumped in a bin at a train station, causing an evacuation.
South Yorkshire Police released a CCTV image of a woman they would like to speak to.
Police say a woman got off the train at Barnsley station at about 5.30pm on March 18 and put a flask of liquid in a bin that was on one of the platforms.
The flask was discovered by two men who subsequently opened it. The flask, containing the acid, then emitted a "strong noxious" smell which engulfed the station.
Pictures taken outside the station showed paramedics and firefighters rushing to the scene and cordoning off the entrance, while one resident has claimed people had also been "kicked out" of the adjoining bus station, ExaminerLive reports.
A Yorkshire Ambulance Service incident response unit was also pictured at the scene.
Emergency services were called in and the station was evacuated and remained closed for several hours after.
Police believe the woman in the CCTV image may have information that could assist their investigations.
A statement by British Transport Police said: "Officers investigating an incident in which a flask of hydrochloric acid was left in a bin at Barnsley station resulting in an evacuation are releasing this image in connection.
"At around 5.30pm on Friday, March 18, a woman got off a train at the South Yorkshire station and put a flask of liquid in a bin on the platform.
"Two men then picked up the flask and opened it. The liquid in the flask was hydrochloric acid and emitted a strong noxious smell.
"As a result, the station was evacuated and closed for several hours while emergency services attended."
