State revenue collection beats target

The government's revenue collection during the first 11 months of fiscal 2022 surpassed its target by 117 billion baht, according to the Fiscal Policy Office.

Pornchai Thiraveja, the office's director-general, said from October 2021 to August 2022 net revenue stood at 2.25 trillion baht, exceeding its target for the period by 117 billion baht or 5.5%. The figure is also 6.8% higher than the same period of the previous fiscal year.

The influx was attributed to the Revenue Department's higher revenue collection thanks to the economic rebound and increased domestic consumption, he said.

The Revenue Department collected 1.86 trillion baht in revenue during the period, up by 248 billion baht or 15.3% from the previous fiscal year and exceeding the target by 14.6% or 238 billion baht, attributed to the economic expansion.

The Excise Department's revenue collection fell short of the target as a result of the government's continued reduction of the diesel excise tax this year to ease people's burden from high energy prices, Mr Pornchai said.

The Excise Department's revenue collection during the period stood at 465 billion baht, down by 28.7 billion baht or 5.8% from the same period of the previous fiscal year. It was 15% below the target, some 82.2 billion baht.

The Customs Department collected revenue of around 100 billion baht in the period, up by 7 billion baht year-on-year, or 7.8%. The tally exceeded the government's target by 9.5% or 8.79 billion baht.

State enterprises' revenue contributions to state coffers during the period exceeded the target by 11 billion baht, while the revenue contribution from state agencies was lower than the target by 17.1 billion.
