If you were wondering why stashed Boston Celtics point guard Yam Madar is not making the trip to Las Vegas Summer League, it isn’t because he has given up on making it to the NBA. Taken by Boston 47th in the 2020 NBA draft before being stashed with Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel and then Partizan NIS in Serbia, Madar was initially believed to be joining the team for summer league.
According to our sources, the Israeli floor general had to choose between a slim chance of making the Celtics’ regular roster via summer league or a chance to not only represent Israel’s national team this summer but also be featured as a main player for Partizan next season in the Euroleague.
Such an opportunity for Madar represents a major step forward in his development, and likely would see him get more burn and the growth that will come with it than had he elected to go to the US and ended up making Boston’s roster, which itself would have been unlikely.

It might not be the sexiest outcome for the Yamaniacs out there who still hold real estate on Madar island, but in terms of him actually honing his craft enough to successfully make the leap, such a move will allow the Beit Dagan native time to fully prepare for a major step in his development in the Euroleague.
And hopefully, his path to the NBA as well.
