'Starting to rise' - Mark Lawrenson and Chris Sutton agree on Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool prediction

Pundits Mark Lawrenson, Chris Sutton and Patrice Evra are all in agreement that Liverpool will win comfortably at Nottingham Forest this afternoon.

The Reds face a trip down to the City Ground for the first time in the league since 1999 - although they enjoyed a 1-0 FA Cup win there in March - and Jurgen Klopp's side will be looking to pick up their third consecutive Premier League win and climb into fifth, even if only for a few hours.

They face a Forest side who are bottom and winless in their last nine league matches, but Steve Cooper has seen signs of improvement with a clean sheet during the 0-0 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion on Tuesday.

But how do the experts think Liverpool will fare down by the River Trent?

Chris Sutton (BBC Sport)

"Nottingham Forest only lost narrowly to Liverpool in last season's FA Cup but they obviously have a completely different team now, and they are struggling," Sutton told BBC Sport. "Forest held out for a point at Brighton on Tuesday and got a clean sheet, which might give them a bit of confidence, but they offered very little in front of goal.

"They need to get the balance right between defence and attack and they badly need a victory, but it is hard to see them managing any of that against Liverpool. The Reds were far from great themselves against West Ham in midweek but, even if they are not at their best, I'd still expect them to win."

Prediction: Nottingham Forest 0-2 Liverpool

Mark Lawrenson (PaddyPower)

"Forest have only won one game this season but they did get a good point during the week," Lawrenson told Paddy Power. Liverpool are not anywhere near back to their best but they’re starting to rise in terms of the table and level of performances. They could have won easier against West Ham but in the end they needed Alisson to save that penalty. I think they’ll win here for sure."

Prediction: Nottingham Forest 0-2 Liverpool

Patrice Evra (Betfair)

"Liverpool are back," Evra told Betfair. It doesn't matter if it was a difficult game against West Ham, Allison saved a great penalty but I said that if Liverpool lose against Man City then their season is over, but if they win then suddenly people will start to fear them again.

"I thought that if they lost against West Ham then the three points against Man City basically don't count and they managed to win. Darwin Nunez has officially arrived and is now scoring goals. Forest are struggling but I'm not surprised because you can't change so many players and expect to stay in the Premier League. They are in big trouble."

Prediction: Nottingham Forest 0-3 Liverpool
