Start the fans please! Couple tie the knot at the Crystal Maze

If you think you love the Crystal Maze, you might have to start reassessing how much. Because Steve Wilde and Siân Johnson have just become the first couple to tie the knot at the Manchester Crystal Maze Live experience.

The couple, a sales manager and a woodwind repairer, were wed at the unorthodox venue with family and friends, the ceremony even being conducted by a Richard Ayoade lookalike, the host of the recent reboot of the classic 80s TV show.

The 80 guests were then treated to a turn in the maze’s various puzzle rooms and its iconic Crystal Dome, before a street food themed wedding breakfast of burgers and Canadian poutine, and dancing to 90s tunes courtesy of wedding band The Uptones.

Steve and Siân, who met 13 years ago while both working at a rock club, said: “After coming out the other end of the Pandemic, we wanted to make sure our wedding day was a truly memorable one for our family and for us. We wanted something fun and interactive that our guests could get involved with – a game and a challenge as well as a wedding! The Crystal Maze ticks all those boxes.

“It’s so cool and shiny but also familiar and nostalgic, we’re so excited we’re the first couple to get married here.”

Tom Lionetti-Maguire, founder of the company which runs the attraction, said: “What an honour it has been to work with Steve and Siân to create a completely bespoke and enjoyable wedding for them and their guests. Hopefully the first of many happy couples to tie the knot in our iconic setting.”

The space offers a number of different options for wedding events, with prices starting from £2000. You can take in the entire experience, or keep the nuptials smaller in the Aztec, Futuristic or Medieval zones.
