Starstruck host Olly Murs forced to cancel shows after major surgery

Olly Murs has broken the news that he's had to cancel a whole host of shows this summer after needing extensive surgery on his knee.

Former X Factor runner up Olly, who is currently on screen as host of new ITV talent show Starstruck, revealed the sad and unexpected news on his Instagram on Friday afternoon.

Posting a picture of himself wearing a hospital gown and on crutches with his leg all strapped up, the 37-year-old wrote: "I am gutted to have to write this message but unfortunately I’ve had to undergo major new knee surgery again this week.

"....been trying my best to avoid having it done but the op was needed and it went well. I’m recovering in hospital but it means I’m having to cancel all my summer shows this year whilst I focus on my rehab."

The singer, who's had number 1s with the likes of Troublemaker and Dance With Me Tonight, added: "Refunds will all be available from your point of purchase and please keep an eye out for any emails from your ticketing agent over the next few days.

"I’m so bloody sorry but my focus now is on recovering and I’ll keep you all updated on how I’m getting on! Stay cheeky catch you soon."

Among the shows that Olly has been forced to scrap is one at Newcastle Racecourse, where he was meant to play after the racing has finished on Ladies Day in July.

On Saturday's Starstruck, Olly will watch in the wings as three soundalikes aim to impress the judges dressed as him.
