Starstruck Edinburgh dry cleaners save Harry Styles from 'wardrobe malfunction'

An Edinburgh dry cleaner has shared how they were ecstatic to be chosen by Harry Styles' team to dry clean his outfits for his recent concerts at Murrayfield Stadium.

The pop sensation broke records for attendance with his glittering performances that took place last month on May 26 and 27.

Chloe Barnes, 25, of Needle and Thread on Telford Road, said that they were taken aback when they were contacted just a day before the heartthrob was due to take to the stage.

Harry’s team reached out to Chloe to ask if she would be able to carry out some urgent repairs and if the business would also be able to dry clean some outfits for both Harry and some of his dancers.

Chloe says that the whole ordeal was a real pinch me moment as she had grown up a massive One Direction fan, going so far as to describe herself as a "total fangirl."

She said: “Harry’s team contacted us on Thursday May25, a courier team approached us at the shop and asked if we could urgently do a few repairs and dry clean some outfits.

“We didn’t know at this point we were about to be cleaning a global star's outfits for his show!

“The couriers were over the moon that we could do it for them in such a short space of time. At first we received two outfits for Harry himself and then we got around seven or eight outfits for the dancers to be dry cleaned.

“We couldn’t believe it. We were shocked that we were touching THE HARRY STYLES’ showbiz outfits.

“I was a massive fan of One Direction when I was growing up and as you can imagine this was a total ‘fangirl moment.’

“We always take extra care with every one of our customers items as we always want to provide a first class service so that we can continue to be a leading laundry service in Edinburgh.

“But knowing you are handling such a massive pop star's outfits, the pressure really was on.

“As you can see all his outfits are amazing, full of glitz and glam, the sequins and beads had to all be individually checked to ensure nothing was damaged in the process of dry cleaning.

“We had two Harry Styles outfits and about seven or eight dancer outfits. Everything was designed by Gucci, Harry’s trousers even had a personalised waistband, it was surreal.”

Needle and Thread are no strangers to having to pull out all the stops having provided their services to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo over the years.

The business has also built up a strong relationship with many leading hotels in Edinburgh and the surrounding area such as Dakota, Yotel and Leonardo.

“We also do a lot of work for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and as you can imagine that comes with a lot of pressure too.

“But due to building such a great team at work, it has allowed us to work together to ensure no amount of pressure gets us stressed so that we always deliver a world class service that never slips.

“We are active on Facebook and word-of- mouth is a huge bonus for us, but a lot of our customers have been loyal since we opened and continue to use us on a weekly basis.

“This means the world to our business as maintaining a strong, reliable local business is our main priority.”
