The Perth Scorchers have produced a scintillating bowling effort to restrict the Melbourne Stars to 9-110 in the WBBL clash at the WACA Ground.
The Stars slumped to 7-55 in the 12th over of Thursday night's match and were in danger of failing to surpass the WBBL's lowest ever total of 66.
But some late heroics from Tess Flintoff (40no off 29 balls) ensured the Stars made it past triple figures.
Piepa Cleary (2-8 off two overs) and Lilly Mills (2-15 off three overs) caused plenty of damage, while Taneale Peschel (2-34 off four overs) was superb early before copping some late punishment from Flintoff.
Peschel set the tone from the very first ball, catching the edge of Lauren Winfield-Hill to send the opener packing for a golden duck.
Chloe Piparo dropped Alice Capsey at slip next ball to deny Peschel a chance at a hat-trick.
She had her second wicket two overs later, though, when Jemimah Rodrigues tickled one behind, reducing the Stars to 2-5.
Annabel Sutherland (31 off 31 balls) put up some resistance, but was lucky to survive an embarrassing DRS process that left players laughing in disbelief.
Sutherland immediately opted for the DRS after being given out lbw in the ninth over.
The technology showed a faint nick as the ball passed the bat, but the DRS umpire somehow missed the contact after watching replay after replay in what became an unnecessarily lengthy process.
Sutherland was incredulous at the decision, and even a Scorchers player consoled her after the edge was overlooked and the next phase of the DRS process was initiated.
Luckily for Sutherland the ball-tracking technology showed the delivery was missing the stumps, although she was out a short time later at the hands of Mills.
Cleary was introduced in the 11th over and had figures of 2-0 in a blistering start to her spell.
But Flintoff's lusty blows helped save the Stars' blushes, with the 19-year-old helping them peel 22 runs from the last two overs.
