James Maxwell has picked Doncaster Rovers as his next club following an exit from Rangers in the summer.
The left-back has joined the English League Two side on a two-year deal after impressing manager Gary McSheffrey during a trial period.
Maxwell has been with Rangers since he was 16 but left in the summer, despite a new contract to stay at Ibrox being offered to him. After loans at Ayr United and Queen of the South, he wanted to go somewhere where regular first-team games were more assured.
According to reports, SPFL duo Hamilton Accies and Partick Thistle both wanted to sign him as did Championship side Reading, but Maxwell has selected Rovers as the best place for him.

McSheffrey said: "He coped and dealt with the games he played during his trial really well. He looked comfortable on the ball, he looked like a good decision-maker and a good defender first and foremost.
"We're pleased to address that position because it has been a priority position for us all summer.
"It was important we didn't rush it. We feel he ticks enough boxes and we're delighted he's here."
Maxwell added: “It was something I wanted to do straight away. It grabbed me. This offer gave me a bit of excitement, a bit of a buzz inside so I’m delighted to get it done.”
