AUSTRALIA V INDIA, day one of the second Test:

SCORE: India 180 all out; Australia 1-86.

SUMMARY: Australian quick Mitchell Starc takes a career-best innings haul of 6-48 and Nitish Kumar Reddy top scores with an aggressive 42. Australia's newcomer Nathan McSweeney (38no) and Marnus Labuschagne (20no) steer the home side to an encouraging position at stumps.

THE MOMENT: Starc takes a wicket with the first ball of the Test, trapping Perth centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal leg before wicket.

THE PLAYER: Starc was the standout performer but for pure theatrics, while Labuschagne took centre-stage with a dramatic duel against with India's star paceman Jasprit Bumrah.

THE STAT: Three. The number of times Starc has claimed a wicket with the first ball of a Test match, equalling the record of West Indian Pedro Collins who, on each of his three occasions, dismissed the same batsman - Bangladesh's Hannan Sarkar.

THE QUOTE: "Not bad." A smiling Starc sums up his first-ball strike.
