It sounds as though Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order 2 will launch in 2023 for new-generation consoles and PC.
In the most recent episode of Giant Bomb’s Grubbsnax, well-known games journalist Jeff Grubb spoke about Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order’s sequel (Thanks, VGC).
“Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order 2 is going to be new-generation only, where it’s PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and then of course PC,” Grubb said. “One of the reasons that they’re going to be able to do that is because it’s not coming out until 2023. This game is for sure now not coming out until 2023.”
Given how old the PS4 and Xbox One are, it makes sense that Respawn would move away from last-generation consoles by now. Even if getting the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S is still challenging.
“It makes it easier to just disassociate yourself with those millions of PS4s and Xbox Ones out in the world when you are in 2023, and you’re going to have several months of making it very easy to get an Xbox Series X, probably a few months before now and then when it’s actually okay to get a PS5,” Grubb continues. “And then at the same time you can take advantage of it and do something that feels new.”
Grubb did say earlier this year that Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order 2 would get revealed before E3 2022, but with the show’s cancellation, who knows what’ll happen.
Aside from Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order 2, Respawn is also working on two other Star Wars titles.
