Star-Studded Drama 'Ezra' Explores Caring For Neurodivergent Child

Robert De Niro looking into camera

Bobby Cannavale, Robert De Niro, and Rose Byrne are set to lead a star-studded ensemble cast in the upcoming drama film 'Ezra.' Directed by Tony Goldwyn, the family-focused feature is scheduled to hit theaters on May 31, distributed by Bleecker Street following its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival last year.

The film also features Vera Farmiga, Whoopi Goldberg, Rainn Wilson, and Tony Goldwyn in key roles. 'Ezra' revolves around Max, a stand-up comic portrayed by De Niro, who lives with his father and makes a decision to embark on a road trip with his autistic son, Ezra, played by newcomer William Fitzgerald.

In the trailer, De Niro's character emphasizes the importance of fighting for something, even if it comes with consequences, while Cannavale's character highlights the father's role in supporting his child's journey. The film, directed by Goldwyn and written by Tony Spiridakis, explores the challenges and emotional depth of caring for a neurodivergent child.

Receiving positive reviews, 'Ezra' has been praised for its superb ensemble cast and sensitive direction that complements the heartfelt script. The movie premiered at TIFF in September, garnering attention for its authentic portrayal of an 11-year-old on the autism spectrum.

Produced by Goldwyn, Spiridakis, William Horberg, and Jon Kilik, 'Ezra' promises to deliver a poignant and touching narrative that resonates with audiences. With a compelling storyline and a talented cast, the film aims to shed light on the complexities of parenting a child with special needs while celebrating the bond between a father and his son.
