After a heartbreaking loss to the Indiana Pacers, the Chicago Bulls have more questions than answers as the season draws to a close.
The Bulls lost a golden opportunity for a much-needed win on Sunday evening when Tyrese Haliburton’s last-second 3 swished through the net and snatched away a 125-122 victory.
The Bulls also wasted an amazing performance from Zach LaVine, as he scored 42 points in the losing effort. DeMar DeRozan added 23 points of his own. As the losses continue to pile up and the sun sets just a bit more, DeRozan is trying his best to keep the team’s spirits high, as he spoke to the Chicago Tribune:
“We can’t hit a home run overnight with one game,” DeRozan said after the game. “It’s one game at a time. As long as we’ve got time, as long as this thing’s still ticking, we’ve got an opportunity. “We can’t put our heads down, we can’t cry about it. We’ve got to muster up the mental capacity to be able to push through this thing.
DeRozan has been here before, so his optimism is understandable and a nice sign of leadership, but simply put: the Bulls have to play better. With 17 games remaining and a play-in berth on the line at the very least, losing these winnable games are unacceptable.
The Bulls have a chance to get back on the right side of things Wednesday night as they travel to Denver to take on the Nuggets. Tip off for that game is 8 p.m. CST.
